Overwhelming Public Support for Companies Taking Action Against Russia

In response to Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, many private organizations are not only making public statements, but also taking direct actions to protest the war, including withdrawing business from and suspending imports to Russia. In recent Purple Strategies’ polling, members of the Informed Public indicate overwhelming support (77%) for such corporate actions, with the highest levels of support for specific actions such as freezing Russian financial assets (42%), sending aid and resources to Ukraine (36%), suspending exports to and sale of goods/services in Russia (36%), supporting humanitarian efforts for Ukrainian refugees (32%) and shutting down business operations based in Russia (30%). Though typically we see high support in polling for CEOs speaking out against injustice, in this case, actions matter far more than words: only 20% indicated support for companies to publicly condemn Russia’s actions.
