Fred Krupp, President of the Environmental Defense Fund [ EDF ], talks with Robert Reiss about creating environmental solutions by involving the business sector and its leaders. Krupp explains the merit of aligning the profit motive of businesses with environmental needs of society and supports his optimism about America’s ability to solve its environmental problems with examples. Specific challenges that Krupp discusses with Reiss are the dependency on imported oil and global warming, each presenting huge U.S. and worldwide economic consequences as well as great environmental impacts. Krupp also talks about assisting inventors offering solutions to environmental problems, encouraging feedback to and from EDF members, and leveraging contributions to produce measurable improvements in our environment.
