From struggling at 50, to building an iconic corporation
By any standard Forrest Lucas is an extraordinary force in US entrepreneurial success stories. At the age of 50 he was a struggling long haul trucker with a mess of maintenance problems battling his way across the freezing mountain ranges of the northeast in the dead of winter and the boiling deserts of the southwest in the summer carrying steel one way and furniture the other – always knowing that he was a couple of major breakdowns from financial disaster. But adversity is a great teacher and his refusal to let the poor quality and high cost of available lubricants he was using in his engines, axles, gearboxes and transmissions force him into bankruptcy totally changed his life forever.
