Powering Through Illness Won’t be a Norm in the New Workplace

Companies are adopting high-tech and high-cost measures to keep employees safe in workplaces as they venture back through the doors, but one measure recognized and supported by employees as a top safeguard requires no tech and no hard costs: Encouraging employees to stay home if they don’t feel well. A full 83% of employees say it is reasonable (59%, very reasonable), to encourage employees to stay home if they don’t feel well vs. “powering through” illness at work. The adjustment for companies and employees would be, at its core, cultural, in an American workforce that has historically and globally been known for glorifying work above all else, at this moment in time when COVID-era mindset shifts are making employees value physical and mental health more than ever before.
