Employees Empowered To Ask For Greater Work Flexibility

One of the topics inescapable to corporate leaders today is the nationwide labor shortage, and it’s translating in ways big and small to a wave of worker empowerment. In January polling, 45% of the Employed Informed Public say they feel more empowered to ask for something they want in their own work situation. What they are asking for most? Greater workplace flexibility. More than one-third (34%) feel more empowered to ask for work-schedule flexibility and 26% for work-location flexibility. In July 2021 polling of the CEO Forum community, we found that 2-in-3 executives plan to offer some level of post-pandemic hybrid work. As leaders continue to think and rethink the models for the future of work, they can expect to field more requests for flexibility.
