Since the COVID-19 pandemic, adaptability at work has been synonymous with performing one’s job responsibilities. Employees who are sought after are those who can demonstrate their ability to change with additional feedback, adapt to a new work environment, and take on altered job responsibilities. It’s not surprising, then, that one-third of the working public selected adaptability as the trait that has been most critical for success at their jobs over the last two years. As the workplace transformation continues, it will be interesting to see whether the prioritization of adaptability is sustained or whether other traits move to the forefront.
