Michael Fabiano is a versatile and accomplished business executive with a remarkable career spanning technology, media, and communications. Recognized for his lifetime achievements, his work at NBC earned him the prestigious Computer World and CIO lifetime achievement awards. Recently, he was honored with the 15th SIT Distinguished Engineer President’s Medal for making a significant impact on society. Michael launched AP Productions and within five years, the team produced 20 Days In Mariupol which won the best documentary Oscar in March 2024. Michael was invited in May 2024 to participate in the Human Flourishing Program at the Pontifical Academy of Sciences in the Vatican. This is an international gathering of luminaries that discuss collaboration between academics, governments, and corporations to ensure every person on Earth has an opportunity to flourish.
Michael is currently serving as President, ESG News Corp. a New York based media and software business. ESG News is a leading provider of Environmental, Social and Governance news and business information covering events, trends and thought leaders that are shaping businesses today. Michael has been leading the business expansion strategy and ESG News has grown to 53,000 institutional subscribers across 22,000+ organizations and funds, representing over $12 trillion in assets under management. The business feeds more than 181 news networks worldwide, reaching a global audience of 300 million readers, and distributes content to an extended network of over 3,900 publishers worldwide.
In his role as the Head of the Americas Media business at The Associated Press, Michael led a transformative journey for the 178-year-old institution. His strategic vision encompassed stabilizing the digital publishing segment, devising innovative market strategies for local and national streaming, and successfully launching new businesses like AP Productions, AP Foundations, AP Campus Insights, AP Publishing, and AP Podcasting. His responsibilities covered multi-media content licensing, marketing, editorial planning, product development, commercial operations, and creative partnerships, all with significant profit and loss responsibility.
Prior to his role at The Associated Press, Michael served as the VP of Business Development at NBC News. In this capacity, he played a key role in strategic planning, digital product development, partnerships, and cross-platform revenue expansion. His influence extended across major NBC News properties, where he led the deployment of branded digital initiatives and forged strategic partnerships with tech giants such as Apple, Amazon, Google, and Sony.
Michael’s career includes serving as a transition manager for The Weather Channel within NBC News, where he launched several businesses, including NBC Digital, NBC eCommerce, and NBC Latino. His innovative programming, such as the Daily Connection, showcased his ability to drive meaningful change.
With a rich educational background, Michael holds an MBA from Columbia University and a Master of Liberal Arts in Journalism from Harvard University Extension School. He earned his BE in Mechanical Engineering and a BA in English & American Literature from Stevens Institute of Technology.
Actively engaged in academia, Michael served as the president of the Harvard Global Extension School alumni board for four years and received Harvard’s Emerging Leader Award in 2016. He continues to contribute to Harvard as a board member of the journalism program and was recently appointed as Graduate School Director for the university-wide Harvard Alumni Association by Dr. Henry Leitner. In 2021, Michael received the Transformative CEO award for his impactful work at The Associated Press, recognized by the CEO Forum.
Notably, Michael holds dual citizenship between the U.S. and Ireland, adding an international dimension to his accomplished career.
